Discussion tomorrow night: is the City of London good for the UK?

Posted by: Nick Shaxson in: Thoughts

At the Bishopsgate Institute:

The economic power of The City impacts on the rest of London and beyond. But are the interests of The City also in the interests of London? In the run-up to the Mayoral and Assembly elections, this event will ask whether it is London’s people or businesses who really hold power, and who should be the priority.

I will be giving the keynote speech:

“Mayoral candidates have been invited to answer questions about their relationship with the City from the help of Nicholas Shaxson, author of “Treasure Islands”, Chris Cummings, chief executive at City UK, Tamasin Cave, founder of the Alliance for Lobbying Transparency, and Siobhan Kennedy, Business Correspondent at Channel 4 News.”

[…] A whole lot more on this broad subject before too long. Off to the airport now for tonight’s talk. […]
