What the hell is going on at 369 Queen Street, Auckland?

Posted by: Nick Shaxson in: Thoughts

I recently wrote a post entitled What the hell is going on at 9/22 Curran Street, New Zealand?

I now see something that looks even worse. Two apparently unconnected events. A shipment of arms from North Korea, arrested in Bankgok, en route for Teheran; and the U.S. Department of Justice announcing the harshest money laundering penalty ever imposed on a US bank, Wachovia Bank, which was was fined $160 million for laundering up to $424 billion for Mexican drug cartels including the murderous Sinaloa cartel.

And the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project reported last November that:

“The two seemingly unconnected events have one thing in common: 369 Queen Street in Auckland, New Zealand. The offshore businesses they used were all registered here.”

It’s been shut down now, apparently.

But what the hell are they up to in New Zealand?
